CAN YOU DISABLE AUTO STOP/START TECHNOLOGY ON YOUR CHEVY?
If you are in the market for a new Chevrolet automobile or have test driven one recently, you may have seen references to something called auto Stop/Start Technology. This is a unique feature which allows you to save fuel by automatically stopping and starting the engine rather than idling. But can you disable auto Start/Stop Technology on your Chevy if you do not want to use it? Read ahead for more information.
How does Chevrolet auto Stop/Start work?
When you come to a complete stop as you are driving, most likely at a red traffic light or a stop sign, auto Stop/Start Technology turns off your vehicle’s engine in order to save fuel that can normally be wasted by sitting there with the engine running. Then, when you take your foot off the brake, the engine starts up again automatically, and you are on your way.
What are the 2019 Chevy Silverado engine options and power specs?
Some vehicles in the Chevrolet lineup that are equipped with this feature are also equipped with a disabling switch. This switch has an icon that includes the capital letter A inside of a circled arrow. You can press that button to disable this feature, but it must be done each time you start the vehicle, as the vehicle defaults to using auto Stop/Start each time.
Will auto Stop/Start hurt your battery?
All vehicles that include auto Stop/Start Technology have already had their batteries and engine components enhanced in order to accommodate this feature. You need not worry about your battery or engine wearing out when using this fuel-saving feature, so don’t be afraid to use it!
