Can an SUV that is capable of carrying up to eight people still offer ample fuel efficiency? The 2019 Traverse answers with a resounding “Yes!” Two different engines are offered with this vehicle. The first is a 3.6-liter V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing and Spark Ignition Direct Injection. This engine is capable of doling out 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The other option is a 2.0-liter Turbo four-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing and Spark Ignition Direct Injection, which produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

Models equipped with the 3.6-liter engine and a front-wheel drivetrain can get an EPA-estimated 18 city and 27 highway miles per gallon, while all-wheel drivetrains with that engine can achieve an EPA-estimated 17 city and 25 highway miles per gallon. The 2.0-liter engine achieves an impressive EPA-estimated 20 city miles per gallon and 26 highway miles per gallon and is available just with the front-wheel drivetrain on the RS trim.
